The JCCSF Summer Camp is now hiring a Song Leader for 2025!
Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-10. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science and more.
Summer Camp is in session June 2 - August 22, 2025.
The Camp Song Leader will create, organize, and implement 1-week sessions of camp throughout the summer. The camps that the Song Leader will be responsible for leading will include Songs and Stage. The Song Leader specialist will also be responsible for providing music-based programming to the Kinder and 1st/2nd grade campers throughout the summer when not facilitating the Songs and Stage program. Songs and Stage camp is offered for campers in grades 1st and 2nd grade campers for two weeks out of the summer. Campers will be lead in song and prepared for a small performance.
The Song Leader role requires strong classroom management skills and the ability to implement a well-rounded curriculum for youth ages 6 - 11. Additionally, the ability to use and demonstrate multiple techniques, styles, and mediums of art is required.
Responsibilities
- Organize and implement the Songs and Stage Camp curriculum which will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Singing/Line memorization
- Prop/craft making
- Prepare for and deliver up to 12 weeks of camp programming, including creating supply lists, curriculum development and teaching daily lessons
- Lead weekly Shabbat
- Perform welcoming songs at the weekly camp check-in
- Provide daily music-based programming to various camp groups
- Implement an interactive, age-appropriate curriculum
- Supervise general counselors (when applicable)
- Support camper drop-off and pick-up processes
- Provide excellent customer service to camp families by communicating with them about their camper's experience
- Set up camp room and clean up daily
- Implement daily safety check of art-making tools.
- Practice personal leadership skills.
- Model appropriate behavior for campers.
- Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- At least 1 year as an educator
- Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate design and tool use skills for elementary school-aged campers.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.
- Passion for music, informal education and youth programs.
- Knowledge of summer camps preferred.
- Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently.
- Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Will be working directly with youth ages 5-13. Camps will take place on-site at the JCCSF. We will utilize spaces such as the Dance Studios and the individual Camp rooms.

HOURS
Up to 20 hours of prep work in the week of 5/26/2025
37.5 hours per week from 6/2/2025 - 8/22/2025
SCHEDULE
- Summer Direct Service Hours: June 2 ,2025-August 22,2025
- 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday
