The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing the weekly and biweekly payrolls and assisting the Payroll Manager in day-to-day operations of the payroll department. This role ensures the integrity of payroll to guarantee all employees are paid correctly and in a timely manner.
Major Responsibilities:
- Process weekly and biweekly payroll information using UltiPro (UKG) to ensure compliance, accuracy and to meet all deadlines for payroll transmission and reporting.
- Maintain business controls and audit trails for all payroll transactions.
- Create and process Union reporting and payments.
- Run and prepare routine and ad-hoc reports and analyses.
- Prepare remittances to third parties relating to voluntary payroll deductions.
- Assist with account reconciliations and year-end payroll activities.
- Preparation of general ledger journal vouchers and various general ledger analyses.
- Ensure efficient operation of the department by performing clerical duties such as filing, scanning, photocopying, etc.
- Work with Payroll Manager to resolve payroll issues.
- Respond to employee and management inquiries timely.
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processes and efficiencies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- 2 - 5 years of payroll experience in a small or medium sized organization
- Proficiency in UltiPro (UKG) payroll software and NetSuite a plus
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills are required
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws impacting payroll
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel
- Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and to provide excellent customer service
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to communicate and enforce the organization’s accounting policies and procedures
Salary Information:
The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above.
