Job Summary:
The Facilities Manager oversees and coordinates the facilities team in maintaining with them the entire physical plant and grounds. The maintenance team may be responsible for evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed. Maintenance-related duties include performing initial evaluations of building systems and distributing work assignments and will often require hands-on maintenance and repairs.
The Facilities Manager will work within a Facilities Management software system shared by the Operations leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise team, vendors, organize schedules, and task assignment
- Perform training to ensure individuals have all the requisite skills
- Developing and implementing maintenance procedures and maintaining personnel records
- Supervisors regularly evaluate each worker's performance to ensure quality operations
- Investigate accidents and prepare relevant reports
- Responds to emergency situations
- Plans projects, develops bid specification, oversees bid processes, and oversees construction projects
- Develops and maintains a 1, 3 and 5 year plan with the COO and CFO to continuously improve school facilities
- Provides product information research and quality assurance guidance
- Oversees assembly and arrangement of furnishings and equipment (including playground and lunchroom equipment) for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom/playground activities, meals, and events
- Monitors and performs a variety of maintenance activities within established time frames: performs monthly and preventive maintenance and makes minor repairs to heating and air conditioning, assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and operating facility
- Coordinates staff to accomplish repairs to building and equipment
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools to larger equipment such as hoists and lifts
- Can repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment
- Will oversee the repair of wiring, electrical, plumbing, machinery, and equipment
- Inspects facilities, systems and their components for the purpose of identifying necessary repairs and assuring smooth and satisfactory departmental and governmental inspections
- Maintains tools and/or equipment (e.g. hand and power tools, cafeteria and athletic equipment, heating and ventilation equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition
- Prepares and paints various surfaces for the purpose of protecting property and/or maintaining facilities
- Repairs various fixed assets, systems and/or components (furniture, bleachers, fences, playground equipment, door locks, lockers, clogged drains, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition
- Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site
- Maintains OSHA and fire code compliance
- Makes routine and scheduled foot patrols of entire plant
- Supports Security and Technology needs in regards to repairs and alterations to buildings and/or grounds
- Performs or facilitates training to ensure individuals have all the requisite skills
- Works with the Director of Operations and COO on facilities-related maintenance and capital expenditures
- Collaborates with Operations team for Cafeteria and Food Service operations when necessary
- Works with Operations team on carpool and logistics endeavors where needed
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
- Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor or designee
Qualifications
- Background in construction, engineering, project management and/or Facilities Management
- Leadership skills
- Bachelor's Degree is a plus
- Spanish speaker is a plus
- Able to work evenings and weekends
