Principal Responsibilities:
The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches seeks an inspiring and relationship-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead one of South Floridas premier centers of Jewish communal life. This is a compelling opportunity for a visionary leader who excels at building strong partnerships to lead one of South Floridas premier centers of Jewish communal life, energize stakeholders, and drive financial growth through earned income and philanthropic sources. The CEO will serve as the public representative of the organization, cultivating deep engagement with families, community leaders, and supporters, while advancing the JCCs mission to enrich Jewish life through exceptional cultural, educational, and wellness programming.
The CEO will lead a team of experienced professionals across advancement, operations, finance, camp/early childhood programs, and human resources and manage an operating budget of $16M. The ideal CEO will be a charismatic and strategic leader with a passion for Jewish communal life and a proven track record in nonprofit management and fundraising. They will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and community partners to shape and execute a bold vision for the future of the Mandel JCC.
Minimum Qualifications:
Strategic Leadership
- In collaboration with the board and key stakeholders, develop a strategic plan that aligns with the Mandel JCC's mission and core values and lead the team to execute it.
- Ensure the organization's long-term sustainability and growth within and beyond the JCC's physical spaces.
- Collaborate with staff, board, membership, and community partners to shape the future of the JCC, including setting targets for desired impact at the local, regional, and national levels.
Team Leadership and Management
- Lead, develop, and support an experienced and effective senior leadership team across operations, finance, advancement, programming, and HR, ensuring excellent execution aligned with strategic goals.
- Guide and support the senior leadership team in setting priorities, aligning operations with strategic objectives, and driving organizational performance.
- Serve as a culture carrier and ambassador for the organization, modeling the values of integrity, inclusion, and service that define the Mandel JCC.
Financial and Operational Stewardship
- Provide strategic oversight to the CFO and COO to align the Mandel JCCs operations and finances with best practices, ensuring long-term, sustainable fiscal health.
- Partner with the executive team to develop innovative revenue models to maximize earned income opportunities and meet the changing needs of the community.
- Proactively address financial challenges and the ever-evolving funding landscape.
Board Relations and Engagement
- Partner with an engaged and highly effective board to determine and evaluate the strategic direction for the Mandel JCC.
- Leverage each board member's time and talent for maximum influence, ensuring they have a positive, satisfying, impactful experience.
- Cultivate strong personal relationships with each board member, ensuring alignment between their contributions and the organization's strategic needs.
- Work with the board to attract, engage, and retain board members who can help the organization realize its mission and vision.
Fundraising and External Relations
- In close partnership with the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, the board, and the advancement team, serve as a compelling fundraiser and engaging spokesperson for the Mandel JCC's mission.
- With deference to the Federation's primary fundraising role, develop and execute a fundraising strategy that ensures financial sustainability and support for strategic initiatives, including the campaign for the Exter Center and the rebuilding of the Boynton Beach facility.
- Maintain long-standing support and collaborative relationships with funders, partners, government officials, the broader community, and the Federation.
Qualifications
Experience
- Extensive experience effectively leading a complex, place-based organization. While not required, a track record of success at another JCC, Jewish overnight camp or school, or similar customer-serving organization is particularly relevant to this role.
- Ability to lead a multifaceted organization from good to great while building a positive, collaborative culture, maintaining financial sustainability, and providing engaging opportunities to community members.
- Experience building strong relationships with external partners; ability to serve as an inspiring and compelling external advocate for the organization.
- Experience managing organizational budgets of $6M+, including diverse revenue streams with a retail focus, and stakeholders with varying interests and points of connection.
- Proven success partnering with a Board of Directors to drive strategic priorities and realize organizational objectives.
- Strong track record of securing transformational funding through private philanthropy, institutional support, and government sources; experience with capital campaigns a plus.
- A demonstrated commitment to Jewish values and traditions within an ever-changing and diverse community; familiarity with the Jewish community of South Florida or the ability to quickly become an engaged, welcomed, and respected member of the community is essential.

Compensation
Anticipated salary is $300K-$350K, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
