SUMMARY:
The Gymnasium Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, welcoming, and efficient operation of the JCC gymnasiums and indoor track during scheduled hours. This individual serves as a visible presence in the gym, ensuring that all members, guests, and program participants are following facility policies, using equipment safely, and engaging in respectful and inclusive behavior. The Supervisor also helps set up for recreational programs, leagues, and rentals, and acts as a liaison between the gymnasium and other JCC departments.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Weekday evenings and weekends.
- Multiple shifts are available
- Maintain a strong, positive, and professional presence in the gymnasium at all times.
- Enforce JCC policies related to safety, sportsmanship, and appropriate facility use.
- Monitor activities to prevent unsafe behavior or conflicts and address issues promptly.
- Set up and break down equipment for open play, leagues, rentals, and scheduled programs.
- Support youth and adult sports programming by assisting with attendance, check-in, and coordination.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper organization of gym space throughout shift.
- Respond to member inquiries or concerns and escalate issues to appropriate staff when needed.
- Communicate scheduling needs or incidents to the Senior Director of Fitness.
- Serve as a role model of JCC core values.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Prior experience in recreation, sports, or facility supervision preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle minor conflicts or emergencies calmly and responsibly.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Familiarity with basketball, pickleball, and recreational programming a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs of equipment.
- Must be able to visually and audibly monitor gym activities.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary (or Salary Range): $20/hour
