Background:
Founded 86 years ago, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation mobilizes human and financial resources to care for those in need, strengthen Jewish life and advance the unity, values and shared purpose of the Jewish people in Miami, Israel and around the world.
In addition to the Annual Campaign, which raises approximately $27 million each year, Federation develops resources through a wide range of other philanthropic activities. Over 50 years ago, the Federation established a Foundation to serve philanthropists interested in solving community challenges through planned and legacy gifts. Today, the Foundation manages almost $500 Million in assets, utilizing the resources of a highly sophisticated volunteer Investment Committee and an external investment consultant. Foundation operates donor-advised funds and supporting organizations, and holds endowments, bequests, agency funds, life insurance policies, charitable gift annuities and other long-term assets. Foundation’s portfolios are highly sophisticated and include well-diversified traditional investments and alternatives such as private equity, private assets, venture capital and hedge funds.
Position:
Federation is looking to hire an Investment Operations Manager, who would oversee all aspects of the investment operations including monitoring of assets, performance, liquidity, transactions, and rebalancing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Monitor all Federation’s investments, including pools and separately managed accounts
· Ensure timely and accurate execution of transactions (rebalancing, trades, capital calls, distributions, selling of donated stock, transfers between custodians etc.)
· Perform rebalancing as advised by the investment consultant
· Liaise with outside consultants and external fund managers
· Manage custodial relationships
· Staff Federation Investment Committee
· Execute Federation’s investment policy and broad investment strategies, including asset allocation, to achieve stated goals and objectives
· Respond to fund manager inquiries
· Maintain and ensure submission of various legal documentation for Foundation’s investments, including subscription documents, authorized signatories, corporate resolutions, and other filings
· Work in partnership with the Foundation team to support Donor-Advised Funds, endowments, planned gifts and other legacy programs
· Work closely with the accounting team to ensure smooth communications, resolve discrepancies, advise of any changes or significant transactions and assist with audit schedules/inquiries
· Analyze performance reports
· Prepare materials for meetings with various stakeholders, including the Investment Committee, Foundation Board, Federation Board, agencies and fund holders
· Assist with various financial modeling and identifying risk factors associated with portfolio positioning, rebalancing and liquidity needs using various analytical tools
· Assess current market trends
· Monitor performance of an outside advisor and make retention recommendations
· Serve on the Retirement Plans Sub-Committee
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
- 2 – 4 years of investment or relevant financial services experience
- Understanding of financial metrics
- Familiarity with investment laws and regulations
- Great analytical skills and attention to details
- Proficiency in various computer software programs including MS Office and specifically Excel
- Strong communication skills
- Work well in a team environment
- Knowledge of Jewish customs and traditions is a plus
