Kesher Israel is a diverse, vibrant Jewish community located in the heart of Chester County. The congregation’s mission is “Building sacred community with the tools of Jewish Tradition”. The West Chester, PA campus is home to the David Ari and Michael Eric Zukin Religious School for K-8th grade and to a full-service preschool, educating children from ages 12 months to pre-Kindergarten age. Our 225 member families ensure that the community is large enough to offer a variety of programs and events, but small enough so that we can make intimate connections and lifelong friendships.
Job Description: As the first point of contact for the congregation, we are seeking a friendly, dynamic and highly organized individual to join our team as an Executive Assistant to the Rabbi/Marketing Coordinator. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the Rabbi and administrative functions of our synagogue while also leading marketing efforts to engage current members and attract new ones. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community building, excellent communication skills, and a creative approach to marketing. This is a part-time, 4-day per week, position based in the front office of Kesher Israel congregation.
Responsibilities:
· Calendar management for the Rabbi: scheduling of events, meetings and appointments and correspondence by phone and email to schedule and reschedule meetings.
· Administrative support for the Rabbi’s pastoral work, including tracking of visits and communications.
· Manage day-to-day administrative tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, and being the first point of contact in the office.
· Assist with membership management, including processing new member applications, updating member records, and communicating with current and prospective members.
· Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote synagogue programs, events, and services.
· Maintain content for social media platforms, website, newsletters, and other marketing materials.
· Collaborate with staff to execute community events and outreach initiatives.
· Provide support for special projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines effectively.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the maturity and sensitivity to handle confidential information.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Zoom, familiarity with social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, twitter etc.) and a willingness to learn new technology as needed.
· Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
· Knowledge of Jewish traditions, culture, and community dynamics preferred but not required.
· Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
· 2+ years of experience in administrative support, marketing, or a related role.
Hours:
· 24 hours per week, Tuesday-Friday 9:00 am- 3:00 pm
Salary:
· $20-$24/hour
