JUF’s Young Family Engagement department is actively recruiting parent ambassadors to help expectant parents and new parents (parents of children 0-24 months) meet and connect with other Jewish families in Chicago and access relevant and meaningful experiences. This initiative is part of the jBaby Chicago program, geared to identifying and engaging new parents in Jewish life. This is a paid position.
A jBaby Chicago Ambassador is someone who:
• Is a member of the new parent Chicago community
• Is excited to meet and welcome new parents, and get to know them
• Is an excellent communicator and excels at relationship building
• Is passionate about Jewish life and interested in facilitating and participating in new opportunities for peers to meet each other
• Is self-motivated, curious, and open to new ideas
• Knowledgeable about local offerings for new parents 0-24 months (or is willing to learn) both within and outside of the Jewish community
• Has at least one child in the target demographic of 0-24 months (ideally a child between 3-12 months, as jBaby Parent Ambassadors age out of the role once their youngest turns 24 months)
• Lives in the city or suburbs around Chicago.
Ambassadors will identify, connect, and build a local jBaby Chicago community with the assistance of jBaby Chicago professional staff by:
• Participating in trainings to learn and share best practices for engagement and outreach, as well as skill building to hold meaningful one-on-one conversations and facilitate connections
• Identifying new Jewish parents and families in the community
• Supporting jBaby Chicago playgroups
• Meeting informally with an average of two new parents weekly to find out interests, share jBaby Chicago program, deliver swag bags and update jBaby professional via email
• Attending jBaby Chicago event programs and other JUF young family programs (average of 1-2X/month)
• Contributing social media content about jBaby Chicago and participate in online conversations with topics of interest to new parents
• Ongoing monitoring of social media sites to learn what is already being offered for new parents with young children locally and share on monthly conference calls and/or at training sessions.
• Visiting new parent offerings in their neighborhood, both within and outside of the Jewish community
**Please note, jBaby Chicago programming including playgroups, swag meetings, events and ambassador trainings may be held in person or virtually. Ambassadors should be flexible as necessary to follow JUF program guidelines.
jBaby Chicago Parent Ambassadors have the exciting opportunity to:
• Have a hands-on role in re-imagining their local Jewish community to meet the needs of new parents with young children
• Grow their personal, professional, and social network
• Develop new skills that will be valuable for future employment opportunities and/or leadership roles in other organizations
• Learn and work with community partners as well as Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago
