The Staenberg-Loup Denver Jewish Community Center is seeking a dynamic General Manager of Aquatics, Tennis, and Fitness! We are looking for an energetic, creative, and enthusiastic leader to join our team. This role is critical to the success of transforming the JCC Denver and growing our membership and moving our vision forward.
This individual will be a member of the leadership team and engage regularly with the community, lay leaders, the JCC Denver team and national organizations. Our General Manager of Aquatics, Tennis, and Fitness oversees a full-service fitness facility with services including personal training, exercise programs, massage therapy, reformer Pilates, yoga, group exercise, a full aquatics program and tennis center.
The General Manager of Aquatics, Tennis, and Fitness will supervise Fitness Center, Aquatics, and Tennis Center staff and management, , accounting, budget creation, market analysis and member relations.
Role And Responsibilities
In partnership with the JCC Denver’s Facilities and Maintenance Department, develops a comprehensive standard facility operations manual, including written policies and procedures for all facility services, administration, and maintenance.Budget & Fundraising
- Develops and manages the department budget, department goals, and success metrics for the fitness, aquatics, and tennis departments.
- Overall budget oversight of Fitness, Aquatics, and Tennis departments.
Manage Organizational Partnerships & Building Community
- Internal & External partnerships.
- Promote and track program cross-participation and engagement growth between ELS & Camps. Partner with membership to assist marketing and promoting of “J Life Cycle” between programs.
- Support parent and member communication.
- Provide excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback using comment cards and other customer care techniques. Supervise and follow up on guest requests and comments.
People Management & Development
- Manage and supervise Fitness, Aquatic, and Tennis leadership team.
- Support onboarding with staff in all departments in partnership with JCC Denver’s HR department.
- Develop and deliver training for Tennis, Aquatics, and Fitness management/leadership, support staff, etc. as needed.
- Oversee and ensure timely completion of all payroll & HR obligations for all Fitness, Aquatic, and Tennis employees, oversee performance management, enforce employment policies and programs, and re compensation, and compliance.
- Work to eliminate silos between programs.
- Writes articles or press releases for the facility, when applicable.
- Provides excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback. Supervises and follows up on guest requests and comments.
- Ensures the facility is only accessed by actual members and/or guests, and that it is safe and secure at all times.
- Maintains a fully staffed department and/or facility by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training all staff.
- Create and execute strategic plans, develop and implement best practices to ensure successful and continued growth.
- Cultivate a high-performance engaging culture that develops, empowers and recognizes great employees and while delivering top customer service, exceptional programs, and an immaculately clean, safe club to members.
Property Management
- Develops and maintains accurate Tennis, Aquatics, and Fitness facility maintenance procedures and checklists through routine preventative maintenance and repair. Maintains a preventative maintenance schedule for exercise equipment.
- Develop and oversee capital improvement project priority lists for all programs.
- On-site support as needed, including maintaining a monthly inventory of supplies, equipment, and products as needed by the Tennis, Aquatics, and Fitness departments

Basic Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health, Exercise Science, Fitness Management, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience selling and upscaling for premium products
- Minimum 3-5 years in leadership sales or management
- Proven track record of sales goal achievements
- Minimum of one-year supervisory experience in a health facility setting
- Ability to demonstrate equipment use for exercise training
- Excellent customer service skills
- Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
- Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Energetic, enthusiastic and motivational
- Effective leadership skills and strong work ethic
- Certification from a nationally recognized agency such as ACE, AFFA, ASCM, NSCA, and NSPA, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years in management
- Experience in service and customer retention

Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance)
- Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates
- Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, cope with stress, adapt to and stay alert in a business environment
- To perform the essential duties of the job, the employee must be able to speak, hear, see and walk more than 2 miles each day.

The JCC contributes a portion of medical, dental, and vision plan premiums. The JCC proudly pays for 100% of Basic Life Insurance, AD&D, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability coverage for benefits eligible employees. We also provide additional voluntary benefit plans.
The JCC has a 401(K) Plan available for elective deferral contributions for employees over 21 years of age with no waiting period. The JCC matches 50% of employee contributions, up to 3%, on a 5-year vesting schedule.
Paid Time Off is a day-one benefit, accrued based on years of service and in compliance with Colorado Health Families & Workplaces Act. First-year, benefits-eligible employees may accrue up to 120 hours of Paid Time Off in their first year of service. The JCC also provides paid-holidays and benefits-eligible employees are awarded up to 4 additional “Floating Holidays” per year, prorated based on date of hire.
