Job Description
Under the direction of the Teen Engagement Manager, the Teen Experience and Engagement Coordinator oversees the Mandel JCC Teen Travel Programs and assists with daily programming. Duties encompass various aspects such as organizing teen social events, plan local, national, and international teen travel experiences, recruit and organize teens for travel programs. This person also serves a role in Camp Shalom during the summer. The position will involve national and international travel, and working hours typically include evenings and weekends.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Execute and oversee the day-to-day operations of the teen programs.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to teens, fostering their personal and leadership growth.
- Implement strategies to empower teens to take on leadership roles within the community.
- Incorporate Judaic content and values into teen programming.
- Lead and facilitate engaging and interactive sessions for teenagers, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Organize and coordinate events, workshops, and seminars for teens.
- Organize and coordinate social programming for teens including but not limited to week-night programs and winter break/spring break camp.
- Stay informed about best practices in youth development and leadership programming.
- Helps build community inside and outside the JCC through programming, staffing, and working with the parents.
- Serve as a strategic thinker in all areas of programming and know the trends in teen programming.
- Assist in collaboration between other departments, especially where there is age crossover.
- Evaluate program monthly to ensure the program is constantly changing and getting better.
- Plan and lead Teen Travel experiences both nationally and internationally and act as the point of contact for the Mandel JCC and partnering organizations.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years’ working within program development and working with teens 6th-12th grade.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and sensitivity and comfort in engaging with all ages of people.
- Passionate about Judaism and Jewish communal life.
- Energized by kids.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize demands.
- Flexible, able to meet changing work needs and demands.
- Plans and utilizes time effectively with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development activities to enhance skills and keep current on new developments in the field.
- Must be able to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Must work the days and hours to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks and be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with entire agency staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere, and maintain courteous and professional working relationships with members, vendors, and outside contacts of agency.
- Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures, including agency safety requirements.
- Position requires frequent travel in the local area. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Florida Driver License.
Special Requirements And Physical Demands
- Ability to exert moderate physical efforts which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weights (up to 50lbs), bending, stooping, stretching, squatting and sitting;
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
- Flexibility to work various schedules as needed.
