Principal Responsibilities:
Camp JCC Sayarim campers and counselors travel to local and regional attractions in our travel program for campers who are rising 7 th -9 th graders. Camp staff are not required to drive as transportation is provided by a charter buses.
The dates of employment for 2024 are June 10-August 9, which includes a week of Tsevet (Staff) Training. Work hours are Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30, excluding extended days that involve early arrival and dismissal in the early evening.
Minimum Qualifications:
Essential Functions
- Supervises a group of approximately 15-25 campers both on field trips and while on camp.
- Supervises Sayarim staff team (up to 3 total counselors)
- Plans, leads and participates in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
- Identifies and meets each camper's needs. This includes, learning likes/dislikes, recognizing and responding to opportunities for problem solving, interaction between campers and staff, creating great travel camp experiences for each camper.
- Communicates with destination venues to confirm reservations etc.
- Ensure ssafety of all campers and staff on the road, which includes serving as primary lead staff in case of emergency or crisis.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follows Camp JCC policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Submits credit card receipts for all charges made during daily travel.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a day camp setting. Desire and ability to work with children and teens.
- Ability to relate to one's peer group, as well as ability to accept supervision and guidance.
- CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.
- Must possess good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, patience, and self-control.
- Role model appropriate behaviors both on camp and during off camp field trips.
- Positive, "can do" attitude which is demonstrated by a willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed as well as an ability to anticipate what is needed.
