Overview
Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is seeking a full-time Peer Specialist to join our Certified Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in Peekskill, NY. Under the general supervision of the Director of Integrative Services for CCBHC, the Peer Specialist is vital role in our small multidisciplinary team by providing support and assistance to consumers (aged 4 throughout the lifespan) who are enrolled in the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic in Peekskill.
As a Peer Specialist, you will draw on your own experiences to help clients navigate the challenges of mental health and/or substance use recovery, offering ongoing support, advocacy, and mentorship on their path to wellness.
The salary range is $45,000-$50,000 per year.
Responsibilities Include
- Enroll individuals into wrap around services, providing initial engagement and assessment for COPS Referrals and New Clients entering services.
- Complete initial and ongoing NOMS assessments.
- Support clients and the team with crisis intervention and stabilization, as needed.
- Collaborate with clients using personalized methods to help them set and achieve their health and wellness goals.
- Participate in outreach and recruitment efforts with the team, forging relationships with community providers to enhance client access to care.
Qualifications
- NY State Certification as a Peer Specialist or Provisional Certification with the understanding that the person will become certified within 1 year of employment.
- At least 2 years of active participation in mental health self-help activities, peer support or peer advocacy programs or similar programs.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
