Paid Opportunity for Upcoming Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute (RRPFI) is the sole nonprofit organization created by President Reagan charged with advancing his legacy and principles - limited government, individual liberty, economic opportunity, freedom and democracy, peace through strength, and national pride. RRPFI is a non-partisan organization which sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, CA, the Reagan Center for Public Affairs, the Presidential Learning Center, The Air Force One Pavilion and the award-winning Reagan Leadership Academy, and the Reagan Institute, which carries out the Foundation’s mission in Washington, D.C. The Reagan Library houses over 60 million pages of Gubernatorial, Presidential, and personal papers and over 60,000 gifts and artifacts chronicling the lives of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. It also serves as the final resting place of America’s 40th President and his First Lady. More information is available at
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum is hosting the 75th Anniversary tour of the “Dead Sea Scrolls” Exhibition from November 22, 2024 through September 1, 2025. The Reagan Library is the premiere location - and only West Coast location -- to host this world-class exhibition, which features an entirely different set of scrolls since the exhibition last toured and a complete, state-of-the-art renovation. This 75th Anniversary exhibition explores past revelations and revisits our timeless pursuit of meaning, societal order, and progress, connecting the past and present in an ongoing narrative of human experience and discovery.
The brand-new exhibition features multiple new scrolls, alongside a remarkable collection of rare artifacts, that have never before toured, including:
- The Magdala Stone, which dates to before 70 CE, features intricate carvings of the Second Temple. These carvings provide insights into the role of synagogues as sacred spaces prior to the Temple's destruction and showcase the earliest known synagogue images of the Temple Menorah.
- The Sea of Galilee Boat, often referred to as the "Jesus Boat," is a 1st-century CE fishing boat discovered in 1986 along the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee. Unearthed during a severe drought, the reconstruction measures 27 feet in length and 7.5 feet in width and includes wood from the original vessel.
- 4-Ton Stone Piece of the Western Wall, traveling for the first time ever from Jerusalem. Museums guests can leave a note or prayer at the Wall; the messages will be collected and shipped back to Israel.
Exhibit Guide Description
As part of the exhibition experience, visitors will begin their journey in the Desert Orientation Theater (DOT). The DOT is a 3 ½ minute immersive experience where the scenery, sounds and atmosphere transport the guests back in time. 30-35 museum guests will pulse into this room every 4 ½ to 5 minutes.
Unlike other exhibitions where the theater is just a movie playing on a loop, the DOT experience is set with an actual person (Exhibit Guide)
who brings the exhibit to life through a vivid and historical script highlighting the first 5 artifacts. Although it would be great for the script to be memorized, it is not a requirement of the position. Team members may read from speech cards. The full script will be provided to you once you have applied.
The Reagan Foundation is looking to fill the Exhibit Guide roles with energetic candidates who are comfortable with public speaking. We
will need to staff this slot for up to 7 hours a day, 7 days a week during the holidays and peak visitor periods, for almost 10 months! The team members serving as Exhibit Guides will report into our Visitor Services Manager. Shifts will range from three to seven hours per day. Black pants and a white top need to be worn (not provided). An “archaeologist vest” to go over your white shirt must be worn and will be provided when on shift.
Salary/How To Apply
Exhibit Guides will be hired at $17.50 per hour. Those interested should send resume and available days and hours to --------------@----------.---
