Background
The Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis (JFGI) is the central fundraising organization committed to promoting a vibrant, engaged, inclusive, and sustainable Jewish community. Through its Annual Campaign (over $4 million) and Endowment (nearly $100 million), the Federation provides funding to dozens of agency partners, synagogues, Jewish community organizations and independent programs in Indiana, Israel and around the world. JFGI provides deeper connections for members of Central Indiana’s Jewish community while helping donors achieve their philanthropic interests. Programs funded by the Federation engage and inspire participants and create life-sustaining and life-changing impact for beneficiaries. JFGI meets the challenges facing today’s Jewish community while ensuring the viability of the community for generations to come. The Federation resides on and manages the operations of a 40-acre campus in central Indianapolis which is home to multiple Federation partners.
Summary
The Director of Campus Facilities is responsible for the Campus management of Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis and its property including operational oversight, grounds management, and maintaining the physical assets. The Director of Campus Facilities coordinates shared services between all campus and partner agencies with the goal of more efficiency and cost savings. The Director of Campus Facilities maintains vendor relationships, oversees campus security including oversight of the Secure Indiana program, and manages Jewish cemeteries in Indianapolis and across the state.
The Director of Campus Facilities is responsible for maintaining the campus budget including applying for and managing appropriate grant opportunities often around issues of campus safety and security. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Campus Facilities should have outstanding organizational and communication skills necessary to build strong and trusted relationships with staff, donors, and lay leaders. This person will also serve as a member of the senior management team.
Responsibilities Include:
· Preparation and oversight of departmental budget and relevant grant opportunities.
· Supervision of maintenance staff, including outdoor landscaping and snow removal.
· Managethe exterior maintenance projects by continually looking for creative methods to make JFGI and our agencies more efficient while ensuring the safety of all visitors and users of our community resources.
· Make daily rounds of campus and facilities to assess needs and prioritize workflow.
· Manage vendors associated with campus operations including overseeing RFPs, contract negotiations, ensuring a high level of service while controlling costs.
· Create collaboration and leverage with suppliers and vendors to support diversity efforts and greater purchasing power within our constituent agencies and other Jewish organizations.
· Oversight of the maintenance and administration of several Jewish cemeteries.
· Manage insurance claims related to property damage.
· Maintain company vehicles including registration and routine repairs.
· Supervise work of outsourced security officers to make sure daily and special event needs are met.
· Work in partnership with SCN Regional Security Advisor, IT, and campus agency partners on infrastructure improvements.
· Ensure safety inspections are completed to comply with state and local fire and building codes.
· Manage maintenance work performed by both staff and licensed contractors and obtain permits when necessary.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in oversight of building/campus operations and maintenance.
· An understanding of state criminal and fire codes and proactive safety and security programs.
· Experience in creating collaborative relationships.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· On call 24/7 for building and security emergencies.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics are representative of an office setting and is often fast paced with constant stimulation. This job requires high energy and interaction with staff, leadership, donors, and program participants. Physical demands include the ability to sit for extended periods at a desk as well as standing, climbing stairs, walking, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends and holidays.
