The Staenberg-Loup JCC Engagement Department is looking for a temporary Early Childhood Engagement Instructor who will support our early childhood classes including Practice Preschool and process-based art classes for babies and toddlers. Dates of employment will run from January, 2025 through May, 2025.
Practice Preschool is a first-time classroom experience that prepares toddlers (18 month to 3 year olds) & their toddlers for the big transition to Preschool. This role would be a co-teacher in the Practice Preschool program Spring semester January-May. This role would be a co-teacher in the Practice Preschool program offered through the JCC Engagement Department.
The process-based art classes are caregiver/child classes for babies and toddlers (6 months- 3 year olds) to explore materials and foster growth & development though art. Engagement classes run in 8-, or 6-week increments: the Winter 2025 session is January-March and the Spring 2025 session is April-May

Role And Responsibilities
The practice preschool is seeking a lead teacher to support toddler aged children in first-time separation with parents and introduce them to the JCC educational community by:
- Creating a loving, welcoming class environment that fosters a love for learning and sense of safety
- Excellent classroom management skills and techniques focused on community building and relationship building.
- Genuine enjoyment for and enthusiasm about working with children.
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and with a positive work ethic.
- Develop & Facilitate age-appropriate lessons
- Responsible for classroom set up and take down
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- At least 1 year of verifiable experience working with children.
- Must obtain First Aid & CPR certifications before start date.
- Must be able to fulfill requirements for employment at the Staenberg-Loup JCC, including: background screening, three professional references, documentation, and compliance with CDHS law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Early Childhood Teacher Credential (Level III in PDIS)
- BA/BS in field related to Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development or equivalent experience
- Experience with painting, drawing, mixed media, and a variety of other art mediums (ceramics studio on site)
- Previous experience in a school environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
Physical Demands And Working Environment
- Physical Demands: This job requires personnel to have operative auditory and visual functioning. Employee must also be able to walk upwards of two (2) miles each day, including use of stairs and uneven terrain. Employee may also stand, sit in chairs or on the ground. Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, effectively cope with stress, adapt to and stay alert in a professional environment, as well as an ability to problem solve and de-escalate crisis situations and challenging behaviors.
