What You’ll Do
As an Activities Assistant, you will help foster a fun, inclusive, and engaging environment by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of activities and events. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in planning and coordinating a variety of activities, including discussion groups, clubs, cultural and religious programs, entertainment, off-site trips, holiday celebrations, and instructional courses (e.g., arts & crafts, workshops, fitness classes).
- Supporting the preparation and distribution of monthly calendars, weekly reminders, event flyers, and newsletters.
- Managing and purchasing supplies needed for activities.
- Escorting and assisting residents to and from on-site and off-site events.
- Researching and identifying upcoming events and trip opportunities.
- Coordinating transportation services to ensure residents can participate in scheduled outings.
- Maintaining schedule flexibility, which may include evenings and weekends as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience in senior living activities preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Experience creating flyers using graphic design tools like Canva.
- A background in entertainment (singing, playing an instrument, dancing, etc.) is a plus!
- Socially engaging personality with strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Mahjong or Canasta (ability to teach or play is a plus).
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This role involves frequent standing, bending, stretching, and squatting (about 60% of the workday). Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally and be comfortable walking and sitting intermittently throughout the day. Must have the ability to read, speak English, and hear clearly to communicate effectively with residents and team members.
