Principal Responsibilities:
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide effective coordination and leadership of the E.B. Hirsh Early Childhood Center program, aligning with the vision and mission of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation, and delivering a developmentally appropriate curriculum that includes both secular and Judaic components.
- Govern and manage the program and staff by ensuring clear and appropriate communication between teacher/director and teacher/parent, conducting regular staff meetings, and providing orientation sessions for teachers and Parents.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies, including but not limited to the Maryland State Department of Education, Health Department and Fire Department for the State of Maryland. Maintain up-to-date emergency procedures plans.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff, in accordance with established Human Resources policies and procedures and maintaining required documentation.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating integrity and professionalism that reflects good character and ethics at all times.
- Able to identify, analyze, and implement growth opportunities to achieve and maintain enrollment goals.
- Foster a functional, inspiring, welcoming, and engaging environment for both families and staff.
- Establish and maintain a strong relationship with parents to create and manage a robust E. B. Hirsh Early Childhood Center Parents Association.
- Be familiar with community resources for children and families with special needs.
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents as partners in the educational activities of their children.
- Interact professionally with all staff of the E.B. Hirsh Early Childhood Center, Baltimore Hebrew Congregation (as a whole), JCC, and lay leadership.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to brand, market, and promote the E. B. Hirsh Early Childhood Center.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping within the E. B. Hirsh Early Childhood Center.
- Manage the ECC's finances and budgets, including the responsible purchasing of school materials and resources.
- Guide the program's continuous improvement process through both short and long term planning, including professional development opportunities and performance reviews.
- Serve as a role model in an inspirational manner that reflects good character and ethics.
- Perform other duties as required or directed.
- Maintain professional attire and demeanor at all times.
- Participate in relevant congregational training, staff meetings, conferences, committees, and special events. Represent the E. B. Hirsh Early Childhood Center and Baltimore Hebrew Congregation on appropriate staff committees and at professional conferences.
- Additional assignments as deemed necessary to the success of the synagogue.

Minimum Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor and/or master's degree in education or related field, with classroom experience (preferably in early childhood), and a minimum of two years experience in an administrative role within the education field
- Professional knowledge and understanding of early childhood education curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Strong organizational, management, and conflict resolution skills
- Stellar visionary and leadership competencies to establish and lead effective teams
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Dynamic interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The work environment is usually fast paced and requires high energy, with frequent interactions among staff, parents, other agency staff, community leaders, and outside partners and vendors.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to use a computer, engage in verbal communication, listen, reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.

Hirsh Early Childhood Center is responsible for overseeing the operations of the early childhood center, serving children from age 3 months through Pre-Kindergarten. This leadership role requires a balanced approach, combining administrative efficiency with a warm, nurturing leadership style that fosters a positive and supportive learning environment for both children and staff. The Director is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of the program, including the oversight of an age appropriate educational program, the supervision of teachers and staff, and the management of marketing, staffing and all administration.
