Summary: The Security Technology and Equipment Director plays a critical role in safeguarding the people, facilities, and operations of AIPAC through the strategic deployment of advanced physical and electronic security systems. This position is responsible for overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, installing, and maintaining of all security-related technology and infrastructure across AIPAC facilities nationwide—including headquarters, regional offices, and designated high-risk residences. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, vendor management skills, and a deep understanding of integrated physical security systems.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Security Technology Oversight
- Lead the selection, implementation, and lifecycle maintenance of all physical security systems.
- Manage access control systems including ID badge systems, biometric authentication, and visitor management platforms.
- Coordinate with vendors for installation and maintenance of:
- Intrusion detection systems
- Surveillance cameras and VMS platforms
- Metal/weapons detection systems
- Perimeter detection and monitoring solutions
Facility & Infrastructure Security
- Participate in regular physical threat and vulnerability assessments of all AIPAC facilities and designated residences.
- Oversee security-related physical infrastructure including:
- Bullet/blast-resistant doors, windows, and drywall
- Vehicle access controls (bollards, automated gates)
- Perimeter fencing and security lighting
- Coordinate with alarm monitoring services to ensure rapid response protocols are in place and tested.
Mail and Package Screening
- Manage the deployment and ongoing operation of mail screening equipment at key locations.
- Ensure proper training and procedures are in place for detection of suspicious packages.
Cyber-Physical Security Integration
- Collaborate with AIPAC’s IT department to secure building automation and network-connected systems such as HVAC, elevators, access panels, and smart locks.
- Ensure appropriate network segmentation, firmware updates, and cybersecurity protocols for all connected security devices.
Communications Systems
- Source, distribute, and maintain:
- Two-way radios, LTE radios, and/or smartphones, as well as accessories (headsets, push-to-talk devices, etc.)
- Mass notification and emergency communications systems (MIR3, panic buttons, PA systems, strobe lights, etc.)
- Test and monitor emergency communications protocols regularly.
Residential Security Support
- Manage vendor relationships related to residential security.
- Oversee installation and maintenance of customized residential security systems for designated individuals, including surveillance cameras, perimeter lighting, panic alarms, and intrusion detection.
Qualifications/Skills:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in physical security systems integration, facilities security, or similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge of access control, surveillance, and alarm systems.
- Experience managing security vendor relationships and project timelines.
- Familiarity with national security and safety codes, and best practices for secure facility design.
- Understanding of cyber-physical system risks and mitigation strategies.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel for site assessments, vendor coordination, and systems maintenance.
Work Environment:
- Primarily based at AIPAC headquarters in Washington, D.C., with travel to regional offices and designated residences.
- Some evening or weekend work may be required for system upgrades or urgent issues.
AIPAC is offering a competitive market base salary between $145,000.00 and $170,000.00 for the position. A job offer within the range will depend on how closely a candidate's skills and experience match the role's requirements. AIPAC also offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package that contributes to employees’ overall total compensation package.
