Principal Responsibilities:
PJ Library, PJ Our Way, and Shalom Baby
- Manage all administrative functions of the PJ Library program, including registrations, subscription maintenance, and program/event tracking.
- Attend PJ Library webinars and trainings; take and share notes as needed.
- Lead the marketing and social media strategy for PJ Library, PJ Our Way, and Shalom Baby, in collaboration with the Marketing Department.
- Support the planning and execution of family and community engagement programs connected to PJ Library.
Jewish Innovation
- Assist the Senior Director of Jewish Innovation with the coordination and implementation of adult and family Jewish learning and engagement initiatives.
- Provide logistical support for Jewish Innovation classes, meetings, and programs, including setup, breakdown, and on-site assistance.
- Serve as primary support for evening programs hosted by the Konikoff Center for Learning.
Camp JCC
- Serve full-time in an administrative role during the 9-week summer season, supporting the day-to-day operations of Camp JCC.
- Help implement and support seasonal camps, including Winter Break Camp, Spring Break Camp, and School Days Out (approx. 20-25 days per year).
- Help implement and support Kids Nights Out.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support other departmental and organizational efforts as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children and families, in education or out-of-school time programming.
- Previous experience in a summer camp setting strongly preferred.
Required Skills, Competencies And Attributes
- Passion for Jewish life, learning, and community engagement.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and social media platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Our History
The Simon Family JCC started life as the Tidewater Jewish Community Center in 1952. It was located on Spotswood Avenue in Norfolk from 1952 1966. It then moved to Newport Avenue in Norfolk, where it remained until 2004. In 2004, the current campus in Virginia Beach opened its doors. Throughout its history, the JCC has been a center for the entire community, providing a family-friendly environment where we can all stay healthy, body and mind.
