Background
Temple Sinai of Glendale is a Reform congregation that has served the needs of Jewish residents of Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and the Foothills for nearly a century. We are a progressive and welcoming community of over 200 families who embrace diversity and warmly welcomes interfaith couples, Jews by choice, strongly identified Jews, and those just beginning to explore their Jewish identities.
Responsibilities
The Director of Operations will work in partnership with our Board, Rabbi, Cantor, and Director of Education in setting organizational goals and moving ideas from dialogue to implementation.
● Oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Temple, including supervision of staff.
● Decision-making authority on purchasing decisions in accordance with the Board-approved budget.
● Implementing strategic initiatives, such as improvements to community engagement, the volunteer model, community spaces, and other priorities as defined by the Board of Directors.
Staff & Operations:The Director of Operations will oversee and manage operations–including regularly scheduled staff meetings–throughout our synagogue. The Director of Operations will supervise the Temple staff including our Director of Education and Youth Engagement, Communications Manager, Project & Accounting Manager, Tech Support, Office Manager, and vendors including Custodian, Security Guards, IT, and others in pursuit of the organization’s qualitative and quantitative goals.
Financial: The Director of Operations will work collaboratively with our synagogue Treasurer to align budget and spending. They will ensure that our income, expenses, and financial affairs are tracked and managed. They will work in conjunction with our Board leadership and committees for the planning and logistics of our annual fundraising and grant submissions. The Director of Operations will have decision-making authority on daily spending within budget; ability to make special requests of the Board beyond budget.
New Initiatives: The Director of Operations will be responsible for the successful implementation of strategic initiatives such as improvements to community engagement, the volunteer model, improvements to community spaces and other priorities as defined by the Board.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a 20 hour a week, part time position, providing paid vacation and sick days. Salary is $55,000-60,000 per year based on experience.

● Ability to solve problems dealing with many personality types
● Excellent written and verbal communications skills
● Experience working with volunteers
● Understanding of Reform Jewish values, rituals, customs and holiday practices
● May need to attend meetings in evenings or outside normal office hours
