Principal Responsibilities:
The Assistant Camp Director plays a pivotal role in designing and executing camp programs while contributing to the overall management and success of the camp department. In addition to these responsibilities, the Assistant Camp Director will provide support for JCC-wide programs and events throughout the year .

Minimum Qualifications:
September to May:
- Work with director to e valuate previous summer's operation s and develop strategies to enhance efficiency for the upcoming season.
- Wrap up any outstanding matters from the previous summer, including reviewing camper and staff surveys with the director.
- Review and update parent and staff handbooks in compliance with ACA and PA regulations .
- Work closely with Marketing Department on all marketing materials including print, email communications, and social media.
- Reconnect with past vendors who provided positive experiences for campers and staff.
- Research and schedule potential partnerships and programs for the upcoming summer
- Assist the director in planning and executing camp outreach and retention initiatives.
- Coordinate camp field trips and special activity days while staying within th e allocat ed budget.
- Maintain communication with hired and returning program staff as necessary.
- Collaborate with the director on the design and content of staff orientation.
- Assist in the creation of Morning Lineup and Friday Shabbat programs .
- Collaborate with the director to devise a recruitment and retention plan to ensure a growing camp community.
- Collaborate with Aquatics director in improvements of the camp swim program.
- Attend recruitment events (staff and camper ).
- Maintain open communication with the director regarding progress on all the above tasks.
May to September:
- Assist Director with day-to-day operations of Camp Kef
- Assist the director in implementing staff orientation.
- Supervise and coach specialist/programming staff , offering real-time feedback and scheduling early weekly check-ins to enhance the camper experience.
- Assist the director in managing budgeted expenses.
- Support the director in ensuring compliance with PA state and ACA regulations.
- Maintain an open dialogue with the director to update on progress related to the above responsibilities .
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions
- Minimum 1 - 3 year experience at day or residential camp.
- Demonstrated previous experience in program design and implementation.
- Proven experience in supervising multiple staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work extended hours during camp season as well as infrequent nights and weekends as needed.
General Skills:
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with a willingness to seek assistance when necessary.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills .
- Prompt responses to requests from others.
- Ability to handle emergency and crisis situations effectively.
