POSITION: VP of Data Services

SALARY RANGE: $140,000 - $190,000
Summary Description Of Position
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the VP of Data Services oversees the Data Services team of JFEDLA’s Development Department.
The primary focus of the role is to provide leadership and oversight of the JFEDLA CRM and all relevant business processes and day to day workflow of gift and constituent biographical data processing. Additionally, this role is responsible for prospect research and biographical data collection to support the development efforts of JFEDLA, as well as being tasked with reporting and analytical functions in the tracking of and improvement in the revenue functions of the organization.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Direct supervision of Data Services oriented staff at JFEDLA.
- Lead all development data processing and CRM administration efforts.
- Lead integration of CRM data consolidation efforts to integrate information from relevant departments across the broader JFEDLA organization.
- Lead of CRM architecture efforts.
- Work with the CDO, CFO, and Development Team to provide customized reports and dashboards.
- Key member of CRM/CMS Migration Project Team.
- Serve as main administrator of Insight, Federation’s data warehouse, and partner with internal staff and outside vendor on updates and reporting. Conducts regular portfolio reviews for fundraisers to support prospect prioritization.
- Prepares confidential research reports for the president, fundraisers, and key volunteers
- Partner with fundraisers and staff to provide timely, accurate, and analytical information to inform the fundraising process; participate in prospect review meetings as needed and help develop fundraising strategies.
- Proactively identify, research, and analyze new and existing donors and prospects for gift cultivation; refer unassigned prospects to prospect management for assignment to fundraisers.
- Builds a pipeline of new major gift prospects for future annual and endowment campaigns; manages the qualification, identification, and assignment of said prospects using sources such as event prospecting, peer review, staff recommendations, Federation’s CRM, list review, and news screening.
- Guide the data visualization efforts of the department and determine best plan for rollout and adoption.
- Oversee development of organizational training and documentation procedures for all user-facing business applications and oversee implementation by team.
- Partner with IT, and Web Development IT colleagues on new integrations and platform rollouts that affect internal and external users with focus on data collection and mapping and end user training.
- Participate in Federation-system Data groups as necessary and maintain high level of visibility and involvement for the LA community.
- Perform other management work covering a broad range of activities, as directed by supervisor.
Additional Duties
Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required.
Education & Experience Required For Position
- Advanced or business degree preferred.
- 5-7+ years’ experience in database administration, data services and/or prospect research.
- Demonstrated prior experience in Data Services management and CRM Administration required
- Experience in team management, administration, data analysis and visualization, change management.
- High level of proficiency with relevant technologies including online research tools.
- Ability to act as liaison to a broad representation of departments and constituents.
- Excellent verbal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Critical, creative thinker, with the ability to provide data-driven insights and recommendations and see ideas through to completion.
- Ability to set goals, establish timelines, and ensure that key milestones and deliverables are met.
- Ability to identify issues and provide guidance in resolving complex systems issues.
- Advanced Excel, Power BI (or other data visualization), and data warehousing skills, as well as ability to quickly establish subject matter expertise in a variety of business applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work and interact with colleagues with varying degrees of interest in and experience with data.
- Ongoing commitment to awareness and research of emerging technology, systems, features, software, and best practices.
- A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to worksite on non-remote workdays, as determined by the Federation.
