The Opportunity
Woolf is seeking a
Vice President of Finance with a
CPA or CFA certification to lead and scale our finance operations. As the finance lead in a fast-growing startup, you will play a critical role in shaping Woolf's financial strategy, scaling processes, and preparing the organization for its next stage of growth, including a Series A fundraising round.
This position requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in global financial operations and a proven ability to build and scale finance teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments. The ideal candidate will thrive on high-stakes challenges, bringing rigor and vision to Woolf's financial function while collaborating with a global, distributed team.
Role type: Part-time (10-15 hours/week), Contractor
Compensation: $5,000/month on contract
Location: Remote
Start Date: Immediate
Time Zone Overlap: We are looking for someone who can work with US Pacific Time (PST).
Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Oversight
- Advise the CEO and executive team on financial planning, cash runway, and capital allocation
- Own and update the company's financial model, including revenue forecasts and scenario planning
- Guide board-level financial reporting and support investor communications and due diligence
Finance Operations Supervision
- Review and validate outputs from the finance ops team, including AR, AP, and monthly close
- Help maintain process discipline around cash flow management, multi-currency accounts, and financial controls
- Ensure internal and external compliance, including GAAP standards, audits, and tax filings
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Collaborate with internal teams to update budget models, headcount forecasts, and operating plans
- Advise on cost optimization and ensure alignment of spend with company priorities
Systems & Team Development
- Recommend improvements to financial systems, tools, and workflows
- Provide coaching and oversight to financial operations staff
Requirements
Certification Required: CFA or CPA.
Education: MBA or management consulting experience (BCG, McKinsey, Bain, or Big Four).
Experience:
- Advanced in financial modeling, cash flow management, and forecasting
- Proficient with QuickBooks Online, Excel/Google Sheets, and modern finance tools
- 10+ years in financial leadership roles (CFO, VP Finance, or similar), preferably in high-growth or global startups
- Proven experience in leading Series A or later-stage fundraising efforts, including due diligence and investor relations
- Proven ability to manage complex financial models and processes, including FP&A
- Proven ability to oversee AP/AR, financial close, and cash flow processes
- Proven ability to handle inter-company eliminations with multi-currency and international financial operations is required
- Ability to manage complex booking to amortization schemes with accuracy and GAAP compliance
